From the East

Brethren,

It was a very joyous and memorable Holiday Season at least to my family and I hope that everyone had the same experience. I would like to convey my sincere gratitude to your holiday greetings and your continuous support to the Lodge. Although we were all busy preparing for the Holiday, you have shown your dedication and commitment to the Craft. The three pillars were able to meet and accomplished the tasks at hand – Budget Formulation for the year 2008, Black Mountain Lodge Financial Audit and preparation of required reports to the Grand Lodge by the Lodge Secretary. The two conferrals – 3rd and 1stDegree – were successfully done with the full cooperation of the officers and members of our Lodge, as well as, the participation of Past Masters and members of other Lodges.

Year 2007 is now in history books with recorded significant events of our time and year 2008, in its infant stage, is for us to decide what has to be written that can shape the course of the future of Black Mountain Lodge No. 845. Present time calls for our members to reaffirm their commitment to the Craft and volunteer to become officers of the Lodge. With the soaring high cost of living standard in our locality and the need of having a second income this is not an easy task. But together, my brethren, we can do it and together we can accomplish it.

Again, I thank and commend each and every one of the officers and members of the Lodge for a successful year especially Worshipful Past Master Rudy Alquero and may year 2008 be as successful.

By Worshipful Master Fil C. Garcia

December Transactions:

  • December 3 – Budget/Audit Committee Meeting.

The Budget/Audit Committee met and prepared a budget for the 2008 Masonic year, to be presented to the members of Black Mountain Lodge No. 845 for approval at the next Stated Meeting. An audit was conducted on the Lodge Secretary and Treasurer’s books that were found to be accurate and in order in accordance with the Grand Lodge requirements.

  • December 4 – Special Meeting.

Third Degree conferral on Brother Benjamin Cueto was done to raise him to the Sublime Degree of Master Mason.  Many Past Masters of Black Mountain Lodge and

other Lodges participated in raising the brother. Their impressive and outstanding performances will leave a lasting memory to our brother. In addition, the newly raised brother with his wife offered delicious and abundant food to the members of the Lodge and visiting brethren. One particular dish that surprised everyone was a whole roasted pig, “Lechon” served during the refreshment. Many thanks to Brother Benjamin Cueto and Sister Anna. Everybody enjoyed the food and deserts prepared for the festivity. In his commitment to the Craft, Brother Cueto volunteered to become the Assistant of the Secretary – an act worthy of imitation.

    From the West ….

Happy New Year my dear brethren!!! Another Masonic Year 2007 has gone by and from the look of things; I predict this coming year 2008 will be very busy. I will work closely with our newly elected Master, WM Phil Garcia and Jr. Warden, Bro Bernie Gapus and support them with my fullest energy in the day to day operations of our Lodge. I really appreciate your confidence you have bestowed and for the encouragement you have given me throughout the year.

As we start the New Year, we, the three pillars would like to seriously demand of you of your support not only necessarily paying dues but most importantly through your presence in the Lodge. Remember…DUES CARD is not only use to show that you are a member of a club or it be kept only inside your billfold, but rather use it to visit a Lodge. Make a worthwhile use of it and please do show up!

May I whisper in you ear my brother and ask these questions:

Why did you join the Masonry?

Why are you paying $106.00 annual dues?

What is the reason you can not visit your Lodge?

Can’t you spare a visit to our Lodge at least once a month?

Please whisper back to my ear my brother… May this letter not to make you feel guilty nor to disturb your conscience, but please remember during your 1st Degree. The teachings you have learned from your brother who delivered you the charge; As a Mason, a Citizen, and as an Individual you are charged to practice the domestic and public virtues. Let Temperance chasten, Fortitude support, and Prudence direct you, and let justice be the guide of your actions. Be especially careful to maintain, in their fullest splendor those Masonic ornaments-BROTHERLY LOVE, RELIEF & TRUTH…

My brother, please also remember your 2nd Degree that your brother spent long hours to deliver you carefully the charge that as a Fellow craft, you will ever display the discretion, the virtue, and the dignity which become a worthy and exemplary Mason. You are strenuously to support, and be always ready to assist in seeing them duly executed, you are not to palliate nor aggravate the offenses of your brethren, but in the decision of every trespass against our rules, you are to judge with candor, admonish with friendship and reprehend with justice

And lastly my dear brother of Masonry, as your Senior Warden listen to my charge to you, “Your honor and reputation are concerned in supporting with dignity the respectable character which you now bear. Let no motive therefore, make you swerve from your duty; violate your vows or betray your trust; but be true and faithful, and imitate the example of that celebrated artist whom you this evening represented. Thus you will render yourself deserving of the honor which we have conferred, and worthy of the confidence which we have reposed in you.

Finally, MY BROTHER, recollect the promises that you had rendered during your speech at the fellowship when you had said, “Thank you all to the brethren who attended my conferral degree and to the officers who made my initiation possible.” And you added…

“I promise that I will support this Lodge and I will attend regularly.”

Yes!!! My brother… I am anxiously waiting for your return. WE REALLY MISS YOU… see you all in the Lodge…

    ~ Jim Desquitado SW
